I kind of like doing these giveaways. They’re a lot of fun and a great way to share with you the things I love!
I’m really really f’ing excited to be doing a giveaway with one of my favorite Austin organizations.
Everyone Loves Austin is a preservation and pride movement created by the lovely Sophia Veronica Erian (read more about ELA’s manifesto here).
When I found out about Everyone Loves Austin, it reminded me of my enthusiasm when I first moved to this city. That excitement has barely wavered and I proudly wear my Everyone Loves Austin tank when I feel particularly gushy about Austin. The tank is frequently a conversation starter with others who love this amazing city too!

What I <3 about Austin: (crazy) People, (awesome LIVE) music, NATURE in the city, snorkeling after work, and pedaling amongst others.
That's a bad-ass shirt!
I think I like the moon towers best about Austin, it used to be fun to try to get them all on Gowalla *tear*
All the music and nature!
What I love most about Austin is this town’s love and support for music.
The thing that I love most about Austin is the people. Growing up in a bland monocultural suburb just north of San Antonio, I didn’t really fit in. 75% of the people at my school went to church on Sundays, dressed in Abercrombie, Hollister, etc., ate chain fast food 1 and a half times a day, and obsessed over football and the Jonas Brothers. lol, just wasn’t my thing. Don’t get me wrong you can find these type of people here in Austin, however it isn’t dominant.
There’s definitely a whole ‘nother vibe in this town compared to where I grew up in. All you have to do is look at bumper stickers on people’s cars. Or at the tattoos people proudly sport on their arms. Or the “likes” people have on their Facebook pages. Or the unique shops, restaurants, and events people frequent. I fricken love Austin and I will do everything I can to maintain the vibe here!
What do I love about my hometown of Austin? I don’t even know where to begin…
I think one of my favorite things, aside from our friendliness and plethora of music festivals, I’d have to say the area code. People automatically recognize it when exchanging numbers, and it always strikes up a conversation about all the great things Austin is about. 512 has become my new lucky number.
met the love of my life in sweet little austin town!
I love that Austin has cancer bats that are especially bitey, and that it is overrun by homeless people that like to stab you with AIDS-infected syringes. I also love that Austin has pretty regular blood rains because that actually does wonders for my compost pile. The locust plague hasn’t really bothered me at all because those buggers are tasty! MMMM! But really, my favorite thing about Austin is the city’s open-minded attitude about cannibalism. Really, nothing tastes better than a brisket cut from a Angelean or New Yorker transplant that has been slow smoked at 200 degrees for about 18 hours. I mean, say what you will about whether or not human is true BBQ (Carolinians can be so jealous), that shit is good!
I truly believe that Austin is the best place in the world to watch movies. Between the Alamo Drafthouse, Austin Film Society, the Paramount Summer Classics, Cinema East, Austin Cinematheque, SXSW, the Austin Film Festival, and all the other little great screenings that pop up all the time, there is a great movie experience to be had every single day, and it’s so cheap (and often free) that you can actually afford to go every day if you wanted to.
I focus on that because I love movies, but the same thing could be said about music and many other things. To me, the quality of life and fairly low cost-of-living makes Austin a great place to DO WHAT YOU LOVE, without concerns of making money or impressing people. People move to Austin because they want to enjoy their life. How can you not love that?
What do I love about Austin?
The bars.
I love the laid back vibe and progressiveness of the city! Austin makes you a better person in the end!
I love the sense of community and belonging you can find in Austin. I’ve wanted to live there my whole life. So far, circumstances haven’t let me but I visit my brother (he lives in southeast Austin) every single chance I get! I love that no matter where I go or who I meet there, everyone is always friendly and super cool. Sigh. I effing love Austin.
My favorite thing about Austin is the food!!! Every time I visit, I find a new restaurant or food truck to loathe after. Figuring out where to have lunch takes forever because a) I’m indecisive and b) there are so many amazing options. Ahh, I want to be in Austin right now! If I was, I’d either grab a fried avocado taco from Torchy’s or the Magic Shroom burger at Hopdoddy. OMG I’M STARVING NOW!!!!
When I first moved to Austin 8 years ago, I fell in love with its natural beauty, music scene, and cool vibe. As the mother of a 2 year old child, I am having a great time finding new reasons to love this awesome city!
I also grew up in San Antonio but I lived in northwest side next to cantinas and panderias. I love east Austin because it reminds me of home without the cholas trying to beat me up. I love east six bars that are filled with laid back young people who come from eclectic backgrounds. I love shopping at the HEB on 7th and talking to the viejitas about caldo recipes. I love Mr. Natural, East side yoga, and Juan in a Million. I live in the best place that blends my Latino culture with my hippie soul and indie musical soul.
I love the vintage shopping on SoCo!
What I love most about Austin is the live music scene (the whole reason I moved here), the Greenbelt, the amount of tolerance and acceptance from most Austinites, the pride for our town, and last but not least THE BRIGHT LIGHT SOCIAL HOUR!!!
Haters gonna hate but I love the heat. I also love how green the city is. not like, electric cars and reusable grocery bags “green”… I mean LITERALLY green. It’s really nice and special to have so many trees and native plant life in the middle of an urban area. I love to look out over the city from the building where I work downtown and being able to see treetops all around.
I just moved to Austin and the thing that I love most about it is that there is ALWAYS something to do. Also, anyone can be whoever they want to be and still be accepted with open arms.
I love that there’s a place for everyone here.
Austin let me make a home for myself here. And that’s why I love it.
I love Austin because it has the perfect blend of things that make for a wonderful city: great music, good food, awesome art, a vibrant downtown/nightlife, a strong economy and plenty of things to do outdoors. Austin is a mecca for creative people, active people, high tech folks, and young professionals. Austin, as a whole, has a fairly diverse, tolerant, open-minded population which is nice. Overall, I like to describe it as a baby SF without all the crime!
I love that Austin allows outlets like Hipstercrite to be well recieved; Creativity and passion is unmatched in Austin! Cheers!
P.S. I like the xs tank 🙂
Everyone discovers something about themselves here and they are able to express it. I became a bike commuter and found acceptance with a group that became like my family. Is there anywhere else like this?
Austin is such a welcoming and supportive city! It’s affordable, funky, and sincere. Oh, and of course Tacomex breakfast tacos.
